Good News For Tomorrow
-
Revelation 4:1 “After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this."
Today, we are going to use Revelation 4 to help us model John’s approach to God.
And like John, we too have a standing invitation into the presence of God – to experience who/what John experienced – and to include this in your everyday.
This is particularly helpful while we live in a life where there is an epidemic of uncertainty and anxiety and that finds itself still in a pandemic
(v.2) says that“ at once” John was in the Spirit.
Even in exile, we have access to God!
ATTENTION AND ACCESS
As John saw Heaven, the door before him caught his attention. “Attention creates access"
Prayer is less about me getting God’s attention and more about him getting mine.
Does God have your attention?
There are things in your life that you have been paying attention to that are creating access to experience certain things.
Revelation 4:1
QUESTION: How many opportunities have you missed because you were paying attention to the wrong things?
When there is no way out, God will give you a way up?!
You cant move forward while being stuck in what’s behind you. The past is behind you and the cross is before you…
Lift your eyes and focus on those things that are above. "I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?" - Psalm 121:1 (ESV)
ALTITUDE
God issued John an open invitation into Heaven, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”
You can’t always get rid of the struggles in front of you, but you can get above them and see them from a new perspective.
The size of a plane wont change the weather but the size of the plane WILL get you through it! he size of your faith won’t change your storm/situation but it will help you get through it!
You don’t have to feel grateful to be grateful! There is power in your words. What words are you speaking? What words are you listening to and what words are you posting?
AUTHORITY
In Revelation 4, John saw a glimpse of the throne room of Heaven. There was a throne & John was not on it. God is on the throne in Heaven, He should be given the throne in our hearts.
“Faith is anticipation minus anxiety.”
Revelation 4:2
There was someone on the throne & it’s refreshing to know that we are not on the throne & it’s not ours. We don’t have to be anxious about tomorrow! GOOD NEWS…God is on the throne!
And whoever is on the throne of heaven needs to be enthroned in your heart.
Revelation 4:11
