• QUESTION: Anybody like hearing good news?

    Romans 1:19-21; 25

19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator

Romans 3:23 (NLT) - "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard."

Romans 5:8 - "BUT GOD...showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."

God not only illustrates His love for us, He demonstrates His love for us! He didn't just shout His love from heaven, He showed His love here on earth!

Why did Jesus have to die?

Romans 6:23 (NLT) - "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."

WAGE: a payment usually of money for labor or services usually according to contract and on an hourly, daily, or piecework basis. Recompense, Reward.

We earned death. Not just physical death but spiritual death. Life without God. Separation from Him. But Jesus died on a cross for us. And on the cross He took on the consequence of the sin and death that we deserve.

    His resurrection proved two things:

    1. He is God!

    2. He has the power to make dead things live!

    We deserved death but Jesus…

The Apostle Paul tells us everything we are In Christ in the first 3 chapters of the letter to the Ephesians. He also tells us that salvation does not come by works.

Romans 8:1 - "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus..."

Romans 10:9-11 (ESV) - "because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”

Romans 10:13 -“ Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
