    Uriah the Hittite—"Yahweh is my light” (Hittite name “Ariya”?). Chosen name that sounded like his original and represented his faith in Yahweh, the God of Israel?

    Joab—“Father is the Lord”

    Servants/Messengers—Powerless instruments of David’s absolute power, used to carry out his abusive plans.

    Other Israelite soldiers—Killed as “collateral damage” in David’s shameful cover-up murder of Uriah (Yahweh is my light).

    The Lord—He appears at the end of this scene. He sees what David has done as evil and is displeased.
