CHANGE IS COMPLICATED
The “comfort zone” is a psychological state where one feels safe or at ease and without stress or anxiety.
When we stop stretching beyond our limits, we stop learning and growing.
Change is complicated…
Matthew 14:22-24 - “Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, 24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.”
HE SEES WHEN WE DON'T
Sometimes God will send us into a storm
Mark 6:48-49 - “He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Shortly before dawn he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, 49 but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out”
Jesus heard the cries of the disciples. They didn’t cry out in faith, they cry out in fear!
Stepping into your calling sometimes is scary but it's always worth it!
Matt.14:27 - “But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
28 Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
WHAT IF...?
IF...How many times has those two letters stopped us from walking on water? How many times has that short but BIG word stopped us from stepping out and into our calling?
What is your “What IF” that is stopping you from doing what God is calling you to?
Exiting the comfort zone, means entering the growth zone.
(V.29) “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
STEP OUT, WALK ON
Just like Peter, we too can STEP out in faith and WALK on His word.
If God has called you to it, He'll make sure you get through it!
Mathew 14:30-33 - “But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
Sometimes God will send us into situations (storms) to reveal Himself in different ways!
Isaiah 43:2 - “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown..."
1 Peter 1:6-7 - “In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”
